Photo Contest Rules

The theme of this year’s contest, in keeping with HFLC’s mission of supporting the agricultural character of the region will be “products of agriculture” and will include every phase of the agricultural production, from growth to harvest.  The theme is intended to include all aspects of agriculture: from fruits and vegetables to animals, to bees, trees and flowers.

The three categories for the contest will be Traditional Film, Digital and Mixed Media (film and traditional).  There will be three “best of show” awards, including cash prizes, but, there will also be awards noting the best entries in each category.  All entries will be made available for sale at the show at the Indigo Images Photography Studio, and must be matted to be accepted into the contest. Minimum acceptable printed format will be 11X14 inches.

Photo Contest Rules

1.

Content or Subject Matter: The three categories for the contest will be Traditional Film, Digital and Mixed Media (film and traditional.) The content of submissions must relate to some aspect of the products of agriculture. The deadline for entries is the last day of September 2008.

First, second and third place photos will be noted in each category, but prizes will be limited to first, second and third place across categories. Winners will be notified via e-mail and on the web site when judging is completed. Photographs will be displayed at Indigo Images Photography Studio, LLC from Thursday October 16th to Sunday October 26th.All entries to the contest must be available for sale.

Eligibility: This photo contest is open to amateurs and professionals. There are no residency requirements, but content of the photo submissions is limited to agricultural activities in the Granby community and the immediate surrounding area. Entries may be color, sepia or black and white prints. Print size is 11x14” mounted and matted. Eligible photos should be no more than 3 years old.

The person submitting the photo must be the sole author and owner of the copyright in all photos entered. Each person submitting photos must sign a release allowing the Holcomb Farm Learning Center (HFLC) to use submitted work in promotional publications and on the HFLC website. . Individual photographers retain all copyrights to their work.

Up to 4 photos may be entered (one for each category). On the back of each submission please include the following: your name and e-mail address, a title for the photo, the category, a brief statement about your thoughts on the photo, where the photo was taken, when it was taken and the equipment used to take it. Please note that HFLC does not allow names, logos or writing on photo entries. Entrants must sign a release allowing HFLC to use submitted work in promotional publications and on the HFLC website. Any photo containing human subjects and/or private property must be accompanied by a signed release allowing for the photo and its unrestricted use for the purposes of the contest, for sale and later promotional activities.

6.

You must declare if photos of animals have been taken in captivity or conditions that are unnatural. If cruel or unethical practices are suspected, the photo will be disqualified.

7.

Judges appointed by HFLC will choose the winners. Entries will be evaluated based on appeal, content and photographic skill. The judges' decision on all matters relating to the competition is final, and no correspondence will be entered into concerning the competition's judging and HFLC.

8.

Should the quality of entries fall below the standard required, HFLC reserves the right not to award prizes. HFLC reserves the right to change the contest rules without prior notification.
